Fiscal Responsibility

My primary aim is to advocate for policies that ease the economic burdens faced by residents of Ward 4. With rising inflation and interest rates, it’s essential to manage city spending wisely and ensure that property taxes are fair and equitable. My focus will be on preventing unnecessary financial strain on our community, especially those on fixed incomes. As your councilor, I will champion sensible and impactful fiscal strategies that balance the need for essential services with responsible budget management, ensuring that our fiscal policies reflect the economic realities of all residents.

Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is a key pillar of my campaign. My commitment is to promote practices and policies that mitigate the impacts of climate change, including addressing challenges like flooding and extreme snow events. As an advocate for sustainable transportation, evidenced by my use of electric vehicles, I aim to incorporate similar eco-friendly solutions in our community’s infrastructure. It’s about creating a Ward 4 that not only thrives in harmony with nature but is also prepared and resilient in the face of environmental challenges, making it a model of environmental responsibility in St. John’s.

Community Health & Wellness

Community health and wellness are at the heart of my campaign. With over 30 years of experience in providing recreational services, I understand the importance of a physically and mentally healthy community. I advocate for accessible and inclusive health and recreational facilities that cater to all residents, enhancing our community’s overall well-being. My commitment extends to supporting initiatives that address mental health and addiction challenges, informed by my personal experiences and ASIST training. Together, we can create a supportive environment that nurtures the health and wellness of every resident in Ward 4.

Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is a cornerstone of my vision for Ward 4. Recognizing the challenges faced by residents in finding affordable living spaces, I am dedicated to advocating for housing policies that cater to the needs of seniors, families, and those on limited incomes. This includes supporting the development of rent-geared-to-income housing units and streamlining permit processes for home renovations that enhance energy efficiency and create rentable spaces. My goal is to ensure that every resident has access to safe, affordable housing, making Ward 4 a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

Traffic,  Safety

 and Snowclearing

Ensuring traffic safety and effective transportation solutions in Ward 4 is a key concern. I will work towards implementing policies and tools such as speed and red light cameras and traffic calming that will address traffic and speeding concerns, enhancing the safety of our streets for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. The Ward has diverse Snowclearing needs because of the road designs and amount of snow received.  I will work with Public Works to respond, learn and adapt to the needs of our residents.  My approach includes advocating for improved public transit services and pedestrian and bicycle friendly infrastructure, ensuring that our community’s transportation needs are met safely and efficiently. By focusing on traffic and safety, we can create a more secure and accessible environment for all residents of Ward 4.
